It's one of those nights where Elektra's mind torments her. She wakes up in a cold sweat and searches for weapons that are no longer stuck in her body. She expects the Irishman looming over her ready to slit her throat again, the monster... man who murdered her mother to run her through with a katana too....

She grabs her phone and starts typing away without really realizing what she is doing. Elektra pokes and prods at Loki over the phone. Did he know she had a place in California in another dimension? Did he also know that he looked like a ghost? A suntan wouldn't kill him. In fact, it might help him win a princess yet. Ariadne will loan out her worldhop device so it could be like he never left his kingdom...

There is a point where she admits she doesn't want to be alone and follows it up with an excuse that she is bored. Elektra doesn't know if he sees through her or not and frankly doesn't care. He finally agrees and soon enough she's throwing black and green swim trunks for Loki to change into. She puts on a red bathing suit that conceals the scar that refused to properly heal during her resurrection.

Nothing changes once they hit the beach. She pokes, prods, and teases him mercilessly. For long while, Elektra forgets why she even texted him in the first place.

(It's why she likes him so much. He always made her forget with his stories and banter. Everything got more bearable when he was around.)

It doesn't last. Loki stops her in the middle of pointing out the latest person to glance his way to ask why she keeps running her fingers over her stomach. She pales in the hot afternoon sun. After a long moment, Elektra smiles playfully as if letting him in on a private joke. It doesn't reach her eyes.

“I was just remembering this time I got into a sword fight.” She laughs. It sounds harsh and hollow. “You should see the other guy.”
