The scene starts off in a breathtakingly beautiful, Grecian style pool house. Birds are chirping, the sun is shining. A little girl seems to be drowning in a pool. That part doesn't seem right. She quickly kicks her way up from beneath the water. "C'mon, Elektra. Keep peddling." A middle aged man calls out to her as he prowls back and forth on the side of the pool.
The little girl, Elektra who can't be older than five, struggles to stay above the water with her thumbs up. "Five more minutes." Elektra sinks further which only agitates him. He points to her accusingly. "Don't use your hands. Don't be lazy. Only use your feet." He slaps his hands together and shouts, "Let's go! Push! Push! Push!"
A female voice rings out from the second level of the pool house soon after. "Nikolas, honey, please." She is in bright yellow jump suit with sun glasses perched on her head. The woman is significantly younger than the man, clearly wealthy. She looks hauntingly like Elektra with darker hair being the only true difference between them. Elektra looks at her pleadingly. Her mother looks concerned in response and points out, "She's just a kid."
Elektra looks to her father, sinking further into the water, hoping for a reprieve. He considers it only a moment before adding firmly. "Keep going, Elektra. Keep going." It's tough love from his perspective. She sinks completely underwater again.
Elektra is laying on a table covered in white sheets. She's motionless. It's quite obvious she's dead. The how is equally obvious. Her throat is slit. In addition to that there are angry marks around it that resemble fingers. There's a stab wound beneath her rib cage. Her left hand is similarly stabbed. Her entire body is evidence of a bloody, violent struggle that ended in death.
An old, blind man man stands above her and rubs his hands. He waves them gently over her body before placing them over her head and stomach. For a little while nothing happens. Suddenly she gasps, her eyes glowing white, before falling backwards.
She's disoriented when she comes to again. Her eyes whip around wildly as she tries to figure out what is happening. He pulled her out of the darkness and brought her back to a world of suffering. "Rest, you will need your strength." Her eyes settle on him accusingly. "What have you done to me?" The blind man places his hand on his shoulder and answers vaguely. "I've given you your life back." Her eyes narrow as she struggles to push past her panic. "Why?"
His sightless eyes meet hers. The answer this time is ominous, "To see what you can do with it."
Elektra enters the room with a resting teenage girl inside. Her hair is styled and dyed close to Elektra's that one might mistake her for a sister or daughter. A man stands off to the side with his hands crossed over his chest and watches her approach. He looks uncertain about what's going on.
The girl does not. She sits up when Elektra joins her on the bed and smiles as Elektra speaks. "So what's next? Kirigi's gone. No one's after you." The girl looks uncertain. "Back to school?" She smiles and shakes her head. The man smiles as well. "Go to the beach? Get a tan?" They're both smiling now. The girl nods in approval. "And get ice cream." Elektra laughs and nods in approval as well. "Ohhh!"
A moment passes before their faces crumble. The girl reaches out to hug Elektra tightly. She's on the verge of tears. "You gave me my life back." Elektra is doing no better as she clings tightly to her in return. "You gave me mine." She pulls back and they stare at each other for a moment. "Will I see you again?" The girl asks hopefully. Elektra is quiet for a moment and looks to the man for help. He only looks sad in return.
Elektra glances back at her. "We'll find each other." The girl seems to accept that answer. Elektra leans over to press a kiss against her forehead. She lingers briefly before walking out the door.
